Rainy Season is Coming

Well, it's been made quite clear over the past few weeks that rainy season is coming. Saying "its going to rain today" is almost always a true statement this time of year.

Sometimes the rains come and go pretty quickly, later in the season they'll linger for a while and leave me day dreaming about washing my car and it actually doing some good. I remember several times during my first year or two, driving from "Big Navy" back home north to Tamuning (it sounds longer than it really is. The trip is about 13 minutes) after spending an hour or three detailing my car, only to see the rain clouds up north, and the torrential downpour from the distance. I'd drive all the way around the island and come in from the other side. Anything to keep my tires shiny.

After 20 years in the Marines I'd more or less conditioned myself to not have an umbrella. We don't use them, not allowed. Only a Marine would walk around in the rain without and umbrella and think it was normal. Now, I think I have about 7 of them. All four of these were in my car when I decided to write this post. I favor the auto-open / auto-close type. Unfortunately I can only find the smaller ones. So it's every man for himself when the water starts to fall. Hopefully my wife won't read that. I'm not ready to come out of the closet and graduate to the big golf style umbrella just yet.
