Move-in Costs

The cost to move into a new rental property on Guam is generally the first month’s rent and a security deposit, equal to one month’s rent in most cases. At times, landlords are willing to negotiate the payment of the security deposit if you don’t have enough cash to cover it.

Military Housing Allowance

The cost of living on Guam is quite high, and the Department of Defense takes this into account for those who elect to live off base. Generally, E-4’s and below without dependents are required to live on base, but exceptions are made depending on the command. E-5’s and above, whether with or without dependents, have the option to live off base.

Questions to Ask before Signing

Asking the right questions of your agent or property manager before you sign is important to avoid misunderstandings after it’s too late, and avoiding unexpected expenses in the future.
