The Honeymoon is Over

Well it looks like it finally happened.. Navy housing took over the Air Force. We've all known it's coming for a long time, but I didn't really expect it to be so bad.

Today I got a call from a client that just arrived two days ago. His first day he spent in-processing, the second day housing gave him the keys to two units on base, and the minute he turned them down, they pulled his TLA. I don't know what happened to 30 days, but people aren't even going to get 10 now. This is going to be the standard people. As long as they have a place to force you into, and Andersen housing is pretty bad, they're not going to care.

Now this young Air Force Sergeant is scrambling to get his family out of a hotel (which he is now paying for) and into a rental property at warp speed. Essentially, they're getting the same treatment that the sailors have been getting for years. In the name of saving a few dollars, they treat their people like cattle with no regard for quality of life. Then they wonder why the Navy has such a lousy retention rate.

So the name of the game now is speed. Nobody likes to be rushed when choosing a place to live. Luckily, on Guam, you don't have to drive vast distances to see several homes.

If you're on your way to Guam, it's never too early to start looking at housing options. True, if you're 6 months out the inventory will totally change, but if you can just give us some ideas what you like, as we approach your arrival we can start getting things lined up. Once you get here we can have you in your new home in a matter of days if that's what it takes.
